Role and Responsibilities

• Assist with formulation/product development & optimization utilizing new raw materials, packaging components & equipment as needed.
• Develop & optimize methods for measuring product attributes using a variety of analytical measurement criteria (pH, viscosity, osmolality, titration, UV-Vis spectrophotometry etc.).
• Perform scientific stability studies.
• Write SOPs for operation and maintenance of lab equipment and performing lab functions in conjunction with ES&H and OSHA requirements.
• Perform troubleshooting, maintenance and minor repair of laboratory equipment.
• Write formulation development reports.
• Must be well-trained in good record keeping and GLP.
• Capable of using electronic documentation management systems.
• Maintain regular inventory of lab chemicals and supplies and associated documentation.
• Coordinate with external vendors for: equipment servicing, calibration, laboratory waste management.
• Comply with all job-related safety and other requirements and train other personnel on safety procedures on equipment, as needed.
• Assume other duties and responsibilities, as necessary, within and outside the department in an effort to provide the required support to ensure adherence to production schedules.

• High School Diploma or equivalency required with at least 2-5 years of experience working in a lab in graduate level academic institutions or industry such as food, healthcare, medical devices. Bachelors degree or equivalent preferred.
• Good understanding of basic organic and inorganic chemistry and physical chemistry concepts (stoichiometry, solubility parameters, specific gravity, colligative properties, boiling point, melting point etc.).
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
• Must be familiar working with GLP and GMP requirements for healthcare industry.
• Capable of using scales, magnetic stir plates, beakers, pipettes, pH meter, overhead mixers and other lab equipment.
