We are not your average design, build and garden care company; at Sprout, our mission is improving and diversifying our outdoor environment while keep our carbon footprint to a minimum. We specialize in edible, sustainable and biodiverse gardens.

Traditional American landscape designs seldom prioritize the ecosystem. Sprout aims to protect a biodiverse flora of butterflies, birds, honey bees, amphibians and other wild life. We create gardens and select plants with both aesthetics and biodiversity in mind. Sprout-created landscapes are more than just beautiful, personal garden spaces. By design, they support and enhance our clients personal ecosystem via vital insect and animal life The stone we use is all natural. We try to source sustainably harvested wood as much as possible.

We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic and motivated people that share our views as horticulturalists and have a desire to help us build and maintain these outdoor spaces so that they can continue to support a balanced, thriving ecosystem.

We are looking for experienced team members that have the desire to learn and grow while working in a team environment as well as on their own. There will be a lot of on-site training in the beginning and end of the season but the gardening position will be mostly on their own for the core season. The position will involve taking care of both ornamental gardens and vegetable gardens. We travel between Manhattan, Jersey city and northern NJ but our home base is located in Teaneck, NJ. We provide a garden care vehicle but reimbursements will be applied if you chose to use your own vehicle.

Job requirements:

· 3 years minimum real work experience in gardening/horticulture or educational equivalent

· Gardeners must have working knowledge of vegetable plants

· Must be able to lift more than 50lbs repeatedly throughout the day

· Work in the heat of the summer, cold times in spring, fall and parts of winter and through light rain throughout the day

· Possible Saturday work during the peak of the season

· Valid Driver’s license

· Abilities to communicate in Spanish is a plus

$25-30 per hour. Based on experience.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
