Chef/Owner David Kinch is looking for a General Manager to join his newest restaurant – Mentone.
Mentone takes inspiration of the French/Italian Riviera and brings it to the California’s Coast line with a Kinch touch. Located in Aptos, California - the restaurant will feature a Mugnaini wood-fired pizza oven, full bar, on-site milled flour, and the fresh ingredients from small local farmers. As the General Manager of Mentone Restaurant, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of a high-quality, fast-paced, and upscale restaurant located in Aptos, California. You will provide strong leadership to the team, ensure exceptional guest experiences, drive revenue growth, and maintain the restaurant's reputation as a premier dining destination in the local community.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the restaurant team, includinghiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and development.
- Monitor and maintain high-quality food and beverage standards, ensuring that all foodand drinks are prepared and served to the restaurant's specifications.
- Implement and enforce all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including localhealth department guidelines and food safety standards.
- Drive revenue growth and effectively manage margins through cost management, inventory control, pricing strategies, and upselling techniques
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and systems to improveefficiency and productivity, and maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, andexpenses.
- Work with ownership to grow the brand through catering, private event or other avenues.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop and update menus, special promotions,and events to attract and retain guests.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, opencommunication, and professionalism among the staff.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, providing exceptional service andresolving any guest complaints or issues in a timely and satisfactory manner.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competition, and customer preferences, and makerecommendations for improvements or changes to the restaurant's offerings oroperations as needed. Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a General Manager or in a similar leadership role in the restaurant industry, preferably in an upscale or fine dining setting.
- Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house, food and beverage preparation, health and safety regulations, and inventory management.
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, mentor, and manage a diverse team.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to providing an outstanding guest experience.
- Strong financial acumen, with the ability to analyze financial data, develop budgets, and implement cost control measures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with staff, guests, and vendors.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and make decisions quickly and effectively.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Knowledge of local market trends, competition, and customer preferences in therestaurant industry.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
