Media Matters Worldwide is a full-service media planning and buying agency headquartered in San Francisco, with remote employees throughout the US. We develop plans across all media—Digital, TV, Radio, Print, Outdoor, Social, Mobile, Email, Direct Mail, and Search. We handle all aspects of media, from beginning to end—research, planning, negotiating, insertion orders, billing, tracking, and optimization. SUMMARY

The Group Media Director is a manager, leader, and idea generator who inspires and mentors teams and clients teams toward ground-breaking marketing. The Group Media Director establishes trustworthy relationships and is seen by others as a collaborative role model and mentor. He or she is an expert in understanding consumer journeys across multiple brands and how people live in our digital world, and applying this to a data-led, audience centric planning process. This position will frequently distill research and data analytics down into meaningful insights and strategic recommendations, clearly articulating the thinking behind our work. This person will be an advocate for the MMWW planning process to both internal and client teams, aligning media teams and cross-functional departments to help address our client’s business needs. In this role, this person will serve on the Leadership Council, directing and executing agency-wide initiatives and projects across the company, and fulfilling leadership responsibilities as defined by the executive team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Extensive experience in both B2B and B2C required, including lead gen and performance marketing
  • Subject matter expert for digital, media and technology marketing and advertising.
  • Motivated leader who takes ownership of multiple accounts, including each account's strategic goals and marketing landscape.
  • As a client-facing strategic voice, evaluates the quality of client-facing deliverables produced by his/her media team.
  • Gets any job done right and remains unsatisfied until a topic is totally mastered.
  • Sets the standard for work and leads the team to brilliant ideas and insight driven strategies.
  • Provides thought leadership POVs and shapes the knowledge and expertise within their team.
  • Beyond screening our industry for new approaches and latest trends, creatively uses state-of-the-art strategic approaches to help in the problem-solving process.
  • Develops new strategic approaches with his/her team members and encourages them to think outside the box.
  • Drives innovation and creativity within media plans, through the use of cutting edge technology, exploration of new vendor partners, and the development of big, strategic media ideas.
  • Writes and publishes POVs on new solutions and/or advances relative to existing solutions and platforms.
  • Is a problem solver who applies analytical skills and strategic insights to every process.
  • Reconciles data overload to create and concise data-driven actions.
  • Balances team workloads for optimal output and client service.
  • Is comfortable in front of a group, plus has clear, direct and concise communication skills.
  • Champions and nurtures team members and guides through conflict while fostering strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Serves as both a manager/mentor overseeing 4+ direct reports, but also accountable for producing deliverables.
  • Supports new business efforts within the agency.

LEADERSHIP COUNCIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend and engage in weekly leadership council meetings and bi-weekly leadership council + executive team meetings
  • Deliver on leadership council chair initiatives by defining initiative milestones, identifying employees and delegating tasks, and overseeing work
  • Act as a sounding board to fellow council members, providing support and , offering a point of view, assisting in initiatives when applicable.
  • Manage up as needed to the executive team and executive sponsors during office hours or ad hoc as needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of media experience
  • Experience managing teams of 4+ people
  • Responds promptly to client needs
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Google docs
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a deadline oriented environment
  • Excellent presentation, written and oral communications skills
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities across multiple clients
