Job description

We are looking for a Kitchen Manager/Head Chef to oversee operations in the Fireside Lounge. The ideal candidate must be willing to work by themselves for the duration of their shift prepping food, cooking orders, and maintaining strict standards of organization and cleanliness.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Managing inventory so that all necessary ingredients are stocked for service
  • Streamlining the kitchen processes to maintain prompt service times
  • Setting regular cleaning standards for the kitchen and verifying that staff is maintaining sanitation levels
  • Tracking kitchen finances to identify areas of potential waste
  • Supervise food prep and cooking
  • Check food plating and temperature
  • Establish portion sizes
  • Store food products in compliance with safety practices (e.g. in refrigerators)
  • Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area

An excellent Kitchen Manager will possess a diverse set of skills. Skills which are important as a Kitchen Manager include:

  • Physical stamina to withstand a full shift potentially on their feet
  • Proven work experience as a Kitchen Manager, Restaurant Manager or Head Chef

  • Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Conflict management abilities
  • Ability to self regulate in a stressful environment
  • Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends
  • Certification from a culinary school or degree in Restaurant Management is a plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
