Job description
Provide services as an ODSS Communication Specialist in support of the overall functions of the Office of the Director (OD) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The contractor will independently provide communication support services to satisfy the overall operational needs of the Office of the Director, Division of Program Coordination and Planning and Strategic Initiatives, Office of Data Science Strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the community outreach and social marketing platform and maintain a consistent message in the community regarding the program mission.
- Facilitate and interact with community organizations and advocacy groups on behalf of the research program.
- Orchestrate blog interviews and prepare post-interview materials and correspondence data science and ODSS activities
- Work with staff on dissemination of research findings to the advisory board and to the broader study community.
- Organize and liaison with community members to develop programs that will engage and educate communities to increase awareness of research.
- Work with staff to coordinate content management of recruitment materials, advertisements and social marketing messages.
- Provide consultation and expertise to develop and implement priorities, strategies and practices for communicating with various audiences. 2
- Assess strategies to improve ODSS performance, including implementing strategies to optimize webinars. 5
- Coordinate relevant data, including facts, figures, statistics and graphics for use in documents and presentations. Develop content for presentations for executive, Congressional, scientific and non-scientific audiences. 1
- Plan, organize and prepare materials prior to videos, interviews, or other communication venues. 3
- Prepare reports, memoranda, briefing papers, talking points for senior leadership and staff and, taking notes during meetings, preparing correspondence, and managing files. 4
- Prepare presentations, correspondence, strategic plans, best practices, standing operating procedures, priorities. - Ad-Hoc
- Produce meeting minutes, agendas, and other communication materials. - Ad-Hoc
- Tracking project progress and providing project updates. - Ad-Hoc
- Research and gather information, perform data analysis, generating results and recommendations for communication related efforts. - Ad-Hoc
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or mass media.
- Skilled in SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Skype, and Teams.
- Experienced in oral and written presentations, video and visual presentations, and press interviews.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
