Job description
Hunger in Hilliard is no different than any other community. Some of our neighbors lack access to food and other resources. The Hilliard Food Pantry (HFP) is operated and governed by the non-profit Hilliard Community Assistance Council. Our mission is simple - improve the well-being of our community by providing food and support. For over 60 years, the HFP has served the Hilliard area as a small, efficient operation helping those with limited resources. We understand that hunger is indeed an everyday problem even in the suburbs. Currently we provide food to over 10,000 people yearly, provide utility assistance, and provide holiday resources. We desire to expand services and explore other ways to provide support to our community. Our VISTA worker is an integral part of how we plan to grow our organization. They will be an essential participant in defining who we will become by developing systems and programs to get there.
Member Duties : Our VISTA member will increase the effectiveness of our food distribution by defining and implementing methods of recruiting, training, and equipping quality volunteers who are essential to the operation of the Hilliard Food Pantry. The VISTA member will secure donations of cash, food, and hygiene products to be distributed through the pantry. They will also find educational resources to offer pantry members as they learn about nutrition, meal prep, and how to effectively manage food budgets. Through these activities, the VISTA member will increase food security, bolster economic stability, and foster knowledge attainment. **Benefits include a $200 housing stipend to supplement living costs.**
