Gastro Health is currently looking for a detail-oriented Histology Technician to join our team!

Here are some of the duties you will be responsible for:
- Process and prepare tissue in an accurate and timely fashion for gross and microscopic examination.
- Process and prepare tissue in an accurate and timely fashion for gross and microscopic examination.
- Identify and log specimens, assist the pathologist in preparation of tissue specimens for gross examination and help gross specimens as needed.
- Will perform routine histology, and special stains on designated slides, and assist in quality control.
- Will write policies and procedures according to State Regulations and for laboratory/pathology accordingly.
- Embed processed tissue in paraffin.
- Perform microtomy of embedded tissue.
- Prepare slides for H&E staining by hand and by using an automated stainer.
- Perform coverslipping of stained slides manually.
- Prepare solutions and reagents for special stains and perform histochemical staining procedures.
- Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC) stains using a Leica Bond Max.
- Perform filing of finished blocks and slides.
- Will perform preventive maintenance on equipment and logs and will keep all records according to State Regulations.
- This position will also include some clerical work such as maintaining op-reports, pathology reports, filing information and slides, and calling other facilities for ally special needs as required.
- Maintain and order supplies as needed. Provide administrative support for the physician and/or care center provider.
Applicants will be considered based on successful completion of one of the following:
- An accredited Histotechnology Program or Associates Degree in MLT/ASCP
- ASCP certification in Histology
- 2 years experience in clinical laboratory.
- Previous general laboratory experience preferred.
