Job Description

The General Manager is primarily responsible for making sure our guests enjoy their stay at our hotel. This is achieved through proper training of all employees and making sure employee satisfaction is at a high level; obtaining optimum operational efficiency; making sure the hotel appearance is kept at a superior standard; and sales and marketing project the proper image of the property. Once these standards are achieved, the hotel will obtain superior financial results. The General Manager analyzes the financial results and works with the leadership team to ensure continued success. The General Manager is the primary decision maker on property and is relied on to oversee the execution of the property plan to maximize guest and employee satisfaction and superior financial results.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensures all departments are profitable and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Managing budgets and financial plans and controlling expenditure.
  • Setting and achieving sales and profit targets.
  • Meets all Accounts Receivable/Payable standards.
  • Ensures staff receives proper training for each position, and company standard operating procedures.
  • Adheres to all franchise and company procedures and regulations as well as standard operating procedures.
  • Reviews monthly financial reports and always knows where the hotel stands against budget.
  • Manages human resources functions of the hotel by controlling turnover, motivating employees, focusing on employee development and retention.
  • Protects the hotel and its assets through enforcing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program.
  • Always provides a professional image through appearance and dress.
  • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner and follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Follows company policies and procedures and can effectively communicate them to subordinates.
  • Ensures hotel is following all federal, state, and local laws.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of three years' experience as a General Manager at a branded limited/select service property preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays if needed.
  • Financial acumen.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Proficiency with basic computer (PC) and office technology experience a plus.
