Position Title: Laundry Attendant
Department: House keeping
Reports to: Executive Housekeeper, Assistant Executive Housekeeper or
POSITION PURPOSE:
To ensure the proper sorting and distribution of laundry, to meet high standards of quality.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Empty the laundry chute and prepare loads for washer.
Pre-sort and separate linen by classification and transfer by lifting, carrying or transporting to work stations.
Run folding equipment to fold mats, blankets, towels, bedspreads, etc. Includes running ironer.Separate laundry requiring mending or special stain removal.
5 Clean empty hampers.
Other:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.
Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, Associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Upon employment, all Associates are required to fully comply with rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Associates who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to performance of the essential functions. this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
Provide assistance to washer by pushing carts from washing to drying area.
Other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to lift, bend, stoop, carry, push or pull heavy loads, and stand for long periods of time. May require lifting bundles (linen) weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability to push and/ or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 100 lbs.
Basic ability to comprehend English language sufficient to understand information such as safety labels and instructions.
