Position Title
Housekeeper (Academic Buildings)

Job Responsibilities
FUNCTION OF THE JOB : Reports directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor and is responsible for cleaning, hauling trash and recycling, changing light bulbs and other tasks in campus buildings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Clean classrooms, corridors, restrooms, stairs, offices, building entrances and other spaces in University buildings. May clean campus dorms as needed.
2. Floor and fixture care, window and door cleaning, trash removal, changing light bulbs and other maintenance.
3. Check and fill soap, towel and toilet paper dispensers in restrooms.
4. Haul trash from inside buildings to outdoor dumpsters.
5. Haul recycling bins from collection areas to pick-up locations.
6. Follow prescribed procedures for disposal of fluorescent and HID light bulbs
7. Request supplies as needed.
8. Maintain orderly storage of supplies, tools and equipment.
9. Special event set-up’s and may be required to work athletic events as needed.
10. Assume all other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Lead or Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
  • Must be able to read and understand product instructions and safety precautions.
  • Must be able to use cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, vacuum sweepers, rags, spray bottles, and squeegees.
  • Must be able to operate power equipment such as extractors, scrubbers and buffers.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb and work from a step-ladder up to 8 feet tall.
  • Must be able to communicate with supervisor, co-workers and building occupants about work-related issues.
  • Must be able to work other shifts as required.

PERSONAL INTERACTION :
Daily contact is required with the Housekeeping Supervisor concerning scheduled and unscheduled activities that require support. Frequent contact is required with co-workers and building occupants.

Required Qualifications
Work history showing dependability and strong work ethic is required.

Preferred Qualifications
Prior professional housekeeping work experience is preferred.

Salary
