Join Community Services Group (CSG), a Certified B Corporation, as a HUD Housing Specialist for our growing Adult Mental Health Independent Housing for the Enrichment of Living Program (IHELP) in Lancaster, PA and find meaning in your work every day. Hiring immediately for this position.
IHELP provides support and empowerment for individuals in obtaining and maintaining housing in Lancaster County. IHELP staff support not only the individuals in the program but also landlords. Staff assist in connecting individuals with resources in the community which include utility assistance and food banks. They also provide support to foster a good landlord/tenant relationship for successful housing. IHELP supports participants in understanding tenant rights and responsibilities and understanding their lease agreement.
This position offers:
- $18.00 per hour.
- Full-Time (40 hrs./wk.) Usual hours are Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with ability to flex hours.

As a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Specialist (HHS), you are responsible for providing housing location and housing case management services. You will evaluate, develop, and facilitate functional skill instruction to individuals to promote independence, interdependence, and community integration. This work is individually scheduled and can be implemented in the individual's residential setting and/or community settings. You may also assist and facilitate community experiences. You will also:
- Assist with housing search for all HUD participants.
- Complete a strengths assessment and needs analysis with each participant.
- Develop recovery-oriented, time-limited, comprehensive plans in cooperation with each individual and or individual representatives.
- Educate and assist individuals in obtaining needed community resources.
- Complete all necessary HUD documentation, forms, inspections, and verifications.
- Complete all required Mental Health Information System (MHIS) documents and data elements including initial and ongoing assessments and progress notes.
- Document program information and other contacts, maintaining accurate and complete records, and producing clear and accurate reports.
- Assist and support individuals with enhancing and maintaining their independent living skills including budgeting, bill pay, credit ratings, delinquent accounts/evictions, lease compliance, and landlord/tenant relationships.
- Develop and facilitate skills instruction in appropriate settings.
- Collaborate and cooperate with involved agencies, family members, and residential providers and participates in meetings providing relevant information.
- Coordinate needed services for individuals, families, and others who are significant to the recovery plan.
- Accompany individuals on appointments related to their recovery goals.
- Willing to learn and model the five principles of trauma informed care: safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment.
- Commitment to promote cultural, racial, language, and gender access, diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Must have one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in human services or related field from an accredited college or university.
- An Associates degree from an accredited college or university or 60 college credits and two years of working experience in programs for individuals with mental illness/substance abuse issues/co-occurring disorders.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Must have all of the following:
- Able to work flexible hours to meet individuals' and program's needs.
- Have a valid driver's license, good driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle to attend trainings, meetings, and/or transport individuals to appointments.
- Ability to obtain clearances as defined by regulations.
