We are seeking a HVAC Facility Maintenance Technician to join our team based at RAND Corporations Headquarters in Santa Monica, CA.

As a HVAC Facility Technician, you will:


  • Performs a variety of maintenance and service tasks in a specialized building system such as mechanical, electrical/electronics, plumbing, carpentry, machine servicing, etc.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs HVAC mechanical equipment, HVAC controls and BAS systems (Direct Digital Controls), refrigeration equipment, commercial grade kitchen equipment, power boxes, doors, and other relevant equipment
  • Provides direction and training to less experienced maintenance specialists
  • Plans, selects, and lays out required materials for service and repair work
  • Works from drawings, schematics, blueprints, job layouts or verbal instructions and operates a variety of tools and machines incidental to operations
  • Assists with ordering new supplies and equipment
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and adhere to company standards
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:


  • 5+ years of experience with maintenance and service of equipment and systems for commercial or industrial size buildings, including HVAC, controls/BAS, refrigeration, and other related equipment
  • In-depth knowledge of various building maintenance fundamentals to work with service and repairs
  • Ability to: climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs, and other basic maintenance tasks required for this role.
  • May be required to use a variety of hand and power tools or forklift.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license
  • Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment
  • Proficiency with personal computers
  • EPA 608 or EPA Universal certification
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret clearance (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience supporting a data center environment

Preferred Education:


  • Two year technical degree or completion of an apprenticeship program preferred
