Buyer – Imports Hard goods

Overview of Job Description:

Assist the Import/Sourcing Manager in negotiating and procuring materials as necessary in the Reusable and Wine categories. Manage the vendor groups, including financial aspects, and regulatory compliance. Manage inventories on multiple Reusable categories throughout the year. Work closely with multiple departments and assist with functions as able.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review demand on all reusable item categories from SS Main spreadsheet and Macola MRP on a weekly basis.
  • Strategically negotiate and procure for the Reusable item categories including: baskets, ceramics, accessories, towers, ribbons, pre-tied bows and some printed packaging (paper and tins).
  • Work closely with International Freight Forwarders, Customs Brokers and Drayage companies on a daily basis.
  • Track all accounting for each reusables vendor and work closely with CFO to perform international wires on a weekly basis.
  • Create new item numbers in multiple databases used within organization.
  • Inquire, receive, and calculate delivered pricing from multiple overseas vendor quotes.
  • Participate in weekly Sales, Design, and Production review meetings
  • Interact with other departments such as Product Optimization, Sourcing, Design, Compliance, Warehouse, Quality Assurance, Information Technology, and Receiving, as needed.
  • Work with the Sourcing Team to process and follow up on sample requests during peak sourcing time.
  • Be proactive on all sourcing requests and follow up as necessary.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor.

Administrative Back up and Other Responsibilities:

  • Execution of Purchase Orders to suppliers, including maintaining and updating documents based on activity.
  • Work with A/P for any PO/delivery/payment discrepancies.
  • Ensure vendor compliance documentation is current and complete.
  • Ensure item numbers and pricing are accurate and complete within company database.
  • Take notes during meetings and relay information to multiple foreign vendors.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of Macola database system a plus.
  • Ability to travel outside of the United States to different trade shows and conventions.
  • Visit domestic and International suppliers as necessary and perform factory audits as needed.
  • Be a self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be self-motivated and disciplined. Position requires minimal supervision.
  • Outstanding and clear communication skills are necessary (written and verbal).
  • Strong attention to detail is a must.
  • Ability to take ownership on projects. Work independently with minimal supervision and follow up on tasks to meet and support departmental deadlines.

Education:

  • College graduate preferred
  • APICS certificate a plus

Experience:

  • 5+ years of purchasing experience required
  • International purchasing experience required
  • Previous experience in an office environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
