Job description
Under the direction of the Ottawa County Health Department and general supervision of the Ottawa County Sherriff’s Office, the Infection Control Coordinator is responsible for the overall management, and operation of the COVID-19 infection prevention program at the Ottawa County Maximum and Minimum Security correctional facilities.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
· Participate in the development, review, revision and implementation of infection control policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
· Conduct case investigations and contact tracing for COVID-19 positive inmates and implement isolation/quarantine procedures when necessary
· Conduct active and passive surveillance of COVID-19 within the correctional facilities.
· Educate and conduct trainings for staff members regarding the management of COVID-19 infections and exposed contacts.
· Ensure facility is compliant with current COVID-19 infection control practices
· Participate in the development, review, revision and implementation of a diagnostic and screening testing program for residents/detainees/ inmates, staff, and visitors
· Develop, review, revise and implement visitor policies consistent with the recommendations to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
· Collaborate with the Ottawa County Health Department to ensure completion of grant based deliverables
· Work with jail operations to inventory and assess the need for additional cleaning and sanitizing supplies and/or equipment used to reduce infectious disease transmission.
· Cooperate with the Ottawa County Health Department, and Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction regarding COVID-19 disease monitoring and reporting.
Education and Experience Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, such as nursing, public health or biology.
· 3+ years of relevant experience for applicants that do not have a bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
Required/Desired Skills
· Basic computer skills required; experience with Microsoft Excel preferred
· Excellent written and oral communication kills
· Ability to think critically and operate under minimal supervision
· Excellent organization and effective time management
· Highly motivated and demonstrates passion to implement infection and control practices
· Capability to adapt and be flexible in a changing environment
· Ability to control emotions when potentially confronted with hostile situations in jail setting
Pay & Hours: $31-$35 per hour, PART-TIME (20-30 hours per week)
