Summary:
Under general supervision, the IT Business Systems Analyst is responsible for working with internal and external stakeholders to provide functional, production, and operational, support and enhancements to business processes, supported by the Information Technology department.

Responsibilities:


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, and evaluating output requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and/or business processes to meet user requirements.
  • Designs new computer programs by analyzing requirements, constructing workflow charts, and writing specifications.
  • Improves systems by studying current system practices and IT modification design.
  • Recommends controls by identifying problems.
  • Defines project requirements by identifying project milestones.
  • Monitors project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, and recommending change.
  • Collaborates with Data Architects to develop reporting specifications that meet business requirements and organizational needs.
Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture(s).
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server, Excel, Access, Transact-SQL, Stored Procedures and Functions, Power Pivot/View
  • Knowledge and understanding of structured analysis and technical design techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in maintaining and troubleshooting live software systems.
  • Skilled in writing program documentation.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of applications.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
A Bachelor’s degree in informatics, computer programming, software engineering or related field. Progressively responsible professional/exempt work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION


Business Systems Analyst I
Non-supervisory – One (1) year of related work experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

Business Systems Analyst II
Non-supervisory – Three (3) years’ experience in application support or related field. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

Business Systems Analyst III
Non-supervisory –Five (5) years’ experience in application support or related field. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
