Overview:

Responsible for implementing the mission, vision, policies, goals, and objectives of the organization and the nursing/clinical services within their area(s). Act as the liaison between rehabilitation nursing, other disciplines, and administration. In the liaison role, rehabilitation nurse supervisor shall promote the philosophy and goals of the organization, the development of team relationships, and congruent rehabilitation practices. The Rehabilitation nurse supervisor shall allocate available resources for the efficient delivery of rehabilitation care and participate in decision making related to departmental functions.

Position Summary:
  • Provides positive leadership by an environment of teamwork, open communication and customer service.
  • Responsible for human resources processes including interviewing and orientating staff, ongoing performance management and timekeeping/scheduling and required documentation. Assists with financial management by developing and maintaining budget, strives to keep operations within benchmarks and communicates variances.
  • Ensures the compliance of policies and work instructions with regulatory standards to improve the overall operations of the facility.
  • Maintains familiarity with all relevant emergency management policies and procedures; participates in drills and post-event debriefings and provides constructive input to improve the processes.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Therapy Services and IRU Medical Director for overall operation of the IRU and care of the patients.
  • Assists with the maintenance schedules on equipment and ensures that equipment is safe for patients and personnel.
  • Collects pertinent information related to potential education needs of the staff.
  • Analyzes the assessment data to determine the learner needs.
  • Identifies the general purpose and educational objectives that are measurable for each learning activity.
  • Identifies and collaborates with content experts to develop activities to facilitate learners' achievement of the educational objectives.
  • Provides staff education/coaching, serves as a preceptor and assists with all components of the RN Residency Program.
  • Participates in and utilizes evidence based research for improving staff education activities, nursing practice and staff outcomes.
  • Maintains accurate records of staff competencies by documentation and administration of e-learning modules.
  • Make staffing assignments for start of shift and new admits.
  • Manage the off-hours and weekend patient care activities.
  • Respond to all emergency situations, assuring effective response.
  • Respond to situations involving patients, unit, staff and visitors and provide a resolution.
  • Responsible for coordinating after hours procedures.
  • Responsible for doing rounds in all areas of the hospital during shift.
  • Supervise staff, assess their needs and identify educational opportunities.
  • Manages nursing resources from one are to another to ensuring the effective and safe care of patients.
  • Act promptly and decisively to address problems throughout the house.
Infection Control: Initial and Ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Trainings could include but are not limited to, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and bio hazardous materials as it applies to your daily work environment.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Current Kansas Registered Nurse License.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN required.
  • Knowledge of general nursing and practice. Current registered nurse licensure in the State of Kansas or has work permit from the State Board of Nursing.
  • BLS certification required or must complete BLS certification with in the first two weeks of employment.
  • Additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations.
Preferred:
  • ACLS Certification Certification in nursing administration
  • CRRN (Certified Rehabiliation Registered Nurse)
  • Related supervisory experience
  • Masters degree
  • Five years of experience in inpatient hopsital setting, rehabilitation preferred.
  • Minimum two years of nursing leadership preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to travel in the community to meet clients/customers.
  • Ability to communiate and write in English.
  • Ability to trasnfer patients and equipment.
  • Frequent and prolonged bending, stooping, crouching, walking and standing.
