Job Summary:
The Instructional Content Designer is responsible for designing and developing a variety of instructional and training materials for Shiji Group products. This individual will their use software, design, and technical writing skills to achieve the learning goals of our internal and external customers. The Instructional Content Designer will utilize effective needs analysis, project management, and materials development to ensure the success of quality training implementation via instructor-led and distance/remote learning.
As part of the Global Learning & Development Team, this individual must stay abreast of best practice and emerging learning, methodologies, technologies, and solutions. Must have the ability to succeed in a fast growing, global company and have strong leadership, analytical and communications skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing, developing, and implementing creative and highly effective training with a focus on learner engagement, customer experience, increasing customer retention, and positively influencing business results through e-learning solutions.
- Partner with Director, Global Product Training & Development, and other business leaders to identify requirements needed for course content creation.
- Diagnose learning styles of the target audience and design high quality and effective learning solutions, including classroom, eLearning, video, eLearning, video, classroom, live virtual deliveries, interactive multimedia presentations, self-paced, reinforcement activities, and job aids/performance support to meet the learners' needs.
- Design, develop, and maintain all necessary training elements (e.g., strategic roadmap, tactical plans, leader guides, student courseware, training documentation, examinations) for all courses.
- Plan, organize, and implement a range of training activities that create effective, experiential learning experiences (e.g., monitored simulations, gamification, role plays, self-directed activities, and problem-solving scenarios).
- Responsible for new course setup in Learning Management System, courseware loading into our document management system, examinations into testing engine (including updates, new creations, or deletions), and access to all materials as appropriate.
- Ensure that all training material follows design and development standards, adult learning principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop knowledge and behavioral assessments in order to assure the adoption of training.
- Incorporate feedback from SME and Manager Reviews into development of learning assets.
- Collaborate with teams to develop and manifest Shiji’s World-Class Learning and Development standard.
- Stays abreast of industry best practices and emerging learning methodologies, technologies, and solutions.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technology, or a related program.
- Knowledge of instructional design process, industry standards, best practices, and adult learning theory
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in e-learning, training, instructional design, and or related
- Strong proficiency in instructional design tools, authoring tools, video editing tools, visual design tools (e.g., Articulate, Filmora, Camtasia, LMS, and Artificial Intelligence Software).
- Instructional design expertise and attention to detail (ADDIE, e-Learning, Instructor Led, Video, Virtual Instructor Led, Facilitator Guides, One-Pagers, etc.)
- Experience with storyboarding, storytelling, and creating imagery out of ideas, and presenting facts in an interesting manner.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and partner with stakeholders/experts at all levels across the business.
- Experience developing content for different modalities (e.g., instructor-led, eLearning, remote learning, blended learning)
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, eLearning tools, and graphic design and video editing software, such as Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong technical and creative writing skills
- Highly proficient with E-learning content creation, utilizing learning technology (e.g., webinars, social media, etc.)
- Ability to travel (10%-20%)
Qualities Essential to Thrive in this Role:
- Ability to multi-task/manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and project management skills
- Ability to whiteboard ideas for learning materials (from an idea) and develop presentation slides and handouts combined with script writing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Training and Delivery background
- Hospitality industry experience
- Bi-lingual
- Some knowledge about translation and working with translation vendors
- Industry/job certifications, licenses, registrations are a plus.
