Job description
Supervises lab operations; performs all aspects of Quality Control testing, sampling, and associated data entry into LIMS. Leads quality improvement efforts; develops and documents procedures and methods as necessary. Serves as back-up for routine Quality Manager tasks. Performs support activities such as ordering/receiving supplies, helping to maintain satellite labs. Reports directly to Quality Manager. Direct Repots include 4 Lab Technicians.
Quality Control – 25%
- Generate reports from LIMS as needed.
- Quality Control testing for certification of products following current test procedures for all products.
- Perform Maintenance, calibrations and verifications of all QC lab equipment.
- Maintain required documentation and filing of test records, as required all relevant Quality Systems.
- Prints and inventories all labels in accordance with weekly production schedule
- Maintain and prepare assigned equipment and standards to ensure accurate and precise analytical results.
- Maintain knowledge of Arkema test procedures and qualification for testing.
- Assist the Quality Manager and Research Chemists with special studies and method development.
Quality Assurance – 45%
- Manage Customer/Vendor Quality Agreements
- Monitor efficiency of Quality System by performing internal audits
- Create corrective action plans to address audit findings.
- Oversee corrective actions to ensure implementation and verification.
Lab Supervision– 30%
- Ensures optimal daily Lab operations; provides daily troubleshooting support
- Develops and documents procedures and methods
- Trains all new technicians in current lab procedures and instrumentation
- Manages Lab team performance through PMP and regular feedback/communication to maximize effectiveness.
- Maintain a safe work area in the lab.
- Initiate, track and complete Atlas actions as needed (e.g. eMOC, Near Misses, Action Items).
- Perform back-up duties to Quality Manager, including: Pharma Batch Record Review, EZ9s micro test tracking and product release, and audit program maintenance.
Required Education/ Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in science or related field
- 7+ years of experience in an analytical chemistry lab
- Experience with the supervision of technical staff preferred
- Experience with a lead role in interaction with auditors and regulatory authorities such as the FDA.
- Strong technical writing skills to create, update or correct standard operating procedures.
- Proficiency with troubleshooting laboratory equipment issues (HPLC and GC).
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, LIMS and SAP.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting/deductive skills.
