Work Hours – Mon-Thurs 6am-4:20pm

SUMMARY

Responsible for daily up keep of facility including all grass cutting, trimming, and planting needed. Mow, water, and fertilize grass and shrubs; prune trees and hedges; and remove debris and litter using hand and power tools or equipment to maintain grounds of private or public property.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, using gardening tools
  • Prunes and trims trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, prunes, or chain saw.
  • Mows grass or turf, using hand or power mower.
  • Mixes and sprays or spreads fertilizer, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayer or spreader.
  • Repairs and maintains walks, fences, benches, burial sites, buildings and tools and equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Waters grass, shrubs, or trees, using hose or by activating fixed or portable sprinkler system.
  • Weeds and grubs around trees, bushes and flower beds.
  • Conditions and prepares soil for planting, using gardening tools.
  • Removes leaves and other debris or litter from grounds, using rake, broom, or leaf blower.
  • Cultivates grass or lawn, using power aerator and thatcher.
  • Records lawn care services rendered, materials used, and charges assessed on appropriate forms.
  • Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities.
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Performs other duties as required.

  • Compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects.
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
  • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.

QUALIFICATIONS

May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
