Overview

As an Lead Estimator at JR Merit, Inc., you will be working in conjunction with the Estimating department to lead and assist with the pursuit of new construction projects, as well as preconstruction activities, located at our corporate headquarters in Vancouver, WA. You will be responsible for accurately quantifying, pricing, strategizing, and preparing estimate packages in an effort to secure profitable work.

Responsibilities

  • You can efficiently solicit competitive and specification-compliant material and subcontractor pricing as required.
  • You can develop and perform itemized, detailed, organized, and accurate material and labor manhour estimates based off project specifications and drawings.
  • You can develop a complete Bill of Materials based on specification and drawing requirements for process, mechanical, and plumbing piping systems.
  • You should be able to review and correct others' takeoffs and estimates to identify risks and discrepancies in the estimate.
  • You can perform manual takeoffs and compile estimates using digitized software, such as Quotesoft and Bid2win (as applicable).

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with an emphasis on Construction Management, Engineering, Business, other applicable degree (or equivalent field experience).
  • You understand MCA and other trade labor units, as well as an understanding of the labor unit rate build-up structures.
  • Computer aptitude using software such as Quotesoft, Bid2Win, HCSS, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Excel, and Microsoft Office suite for estimating and scheduling.
  • Five (5)+ years of experience with emphasis on piping/mechanical projects ranging from $5k - $20M.
  • Field and/or shop experience is preferred.
  • A positive, can-do attitude, a strong drive to make it happen , top-notch professionalism, and the desire to be a lifelong learner and advance as opportunities are presented.

Travel as necessary to support JR Merit, Inc.'s project loads.
