Duo’s is an exciting new restaurant concept in East Liberty that will combine outstanding latin-american cuisine, industry leading cocktails, and an exciting, vibrant space with spanish speaking immersion at the forefront of its design.

After a decade of working at Michelin-starred restaurants in New York, Spain, and California, Chef Marcella Ogrodnik returned to her hometown of Pittsburgh in 2019 to open Café Agnes, a farmer’s market stand serving fresh-cooked and packaged Salvadoran food. At Duo’s, her menu will combine traditional Mexican techniques with Pennsylvania ingredients, and is driven by a passion for tortillas, which are made fresh daily in-house using the traditional nixtamal process. She runs her kitchen with a commitment to diversity, treating employees with mutual respect, and an openness to constructive criticism and professional growth.

The Lead Server position will be the face of Duo’s. You will engage with the guests more than any other position; curating dining experiences, helping to guide your teammates, immersing the guests in the spanish-speaking environment, and sharing your menu and bar expertise with guests with questions.

As an extension of Duolingo, we are looking for a team that’s dedicated to encouraging language learning, warm hospitality, and good community stewardship. This is a full-time position for someone with 1-2 years FOH experience. Hourly pay is highly competitive, commensurate with experience and spanish language ability, and can exceed 20$ per hour + tips. Former

restaurant experience and intermediate Spanish and English speaking proficiency is required. Most important is a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a passion for the Spanish language and Mexican cuisine.
