THE ROLE
The purpose of this job is to optimize safe extraction of materials at the Nyrstar Tennessee Mine operation. The haulage process is just one of the major components of the Mining process. Operators will haul ore from various loading points throughout the mine to dumping points.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Performs pre-shift checks of equipment
- Conducts ongoing workplace inspections
- Assists with wetting and hand-scaling after blasting
- Follows correct loading procedures
- Follows correct dumping procedures
- Follows all MSHA and Nyrstar safety procedures
- Any other duties as directed
- Understands the effects of poorly prepared surfaces on tires
- Promote and demonstrate safe behavior at all times
- Demonstrated competence in coaching, mentoring and providing feedback to team members
- Good time management and prioritization skills
- Works unsupervised or with limited supervision
- Transports operation supplies including explosives within the mine
- Handles loads of varying sizes and weights
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred 3-5 years’ experience in mining
- Experience in construction and/or using heavy equipment
- Preferred knowledge of mining regulation and statutory responsibilities
