Job description
This position provides support to the library (LRC) and its patrons. Support hours are primarily in the morning and afternoon, with occasional evening hours. The LRC utilizes Ask a Librarian, which is supported 24×7. The position is responsible for monitoring the LRC. Other responsibilities are related to a physical presence in the facility to support patrons who use the study rooms, computers, and copiers, and wish to remove or return materials. The position will also collaborate and interact with college personnel (e.g. faculty) as needed to support research or instructional needs related to library resources.
Functional Responsibilities:
- Reliability, dependability, flexibility and a pleasant disposition
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with the basic Microsoft products.
- Assist patrons with checking out and returning items to the LRC.
- Provide basic troubleshooting on computers
- Service and refill copiers
- Communicate with a variety of patrons
- Provide basic customer service to all who visit the LRC
- Other duties as assigned
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Experience providing excellent customer service.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a diverse public.
- Knowledge of and skill in using Microsoft Office, e-mail, Internet, and other computer applications.
- Ability to operate office, library, and media equipment.
- Ability to organize, work with details, and maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge of standard library operations to include reference resources is preferred.
