Pay range: $15.00 - to - $21.00/hour
Work schedule: full-time (Monday through Friday, day shift); occasional overtime
The custodian is responsible for keeping up with daily, weekly and monthly cleaning and maintenance schedules for all internal and external areas of the business property. The custodian ensures the building is kept in a safe, sanitary and presentable state.
- Clean and maintain designated spaces which includes the lobby, restrooms, offices, conference rooms, garage and public areas.
- Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, polish, shampoo carpets, wash windows and empty trash.
- Clean garage, dump trash, sweep and mop floors.
- Report maintenance issues as soon as they come to your attention.
- Maintain and stock supply rooms and bathrooms as needed.
- Check for potential safety issues in all public areas and bring them to the attention of the manager.
- Make sure all doors, windows, entrances and exits are securely closed and locked when you’re the last person to leave the building.
- Assist the mechanics in the performance of minor mechanical repairs as required.
- Operate autos, ambulance and vans on public roadways (pick-up and deliver autos, ambulances, vehicle parts, supplies).
- Move furniture and equipment.
- Wash, polish, and detail autos, ambulances and vans.
- Perform a variety of operations and maintenance duties which involve working with chemicals, or other hazardous materials and may require the appropriate use of safety equipment and disposal procedures.
- Conduct basic maintenance handyman functions at various businesses locations.
- Conduct daily, weekly and monthly cleaning and maintenance of the garage wash bay areas (includes tasks such as changing lightbulbs, washing walls and windows, laundering cleaning rags and mops).
- Operate machinery to maintain garage bay floor clean.
- Keep parking lot and building outside area near exits/entrances clear of snow, cans, paper, debris, etc. Snowplowing as needed during winter season.
- Conduct security checks when at any of the business locations, check for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, report any damage or repairs needed, turn off lights, etc.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- GED/High School Diploma
- Valid Drivers License
- Must have own transportation
- Excellent Customer Service Skills
- Experience in janitorial or cleaning services
- Experience in facilities maintenance/handyman work a plus
- Honest and Dependable
General Conditions:
Work is generally conducted in an office and concrete environment on surfaces such carpet and/or tile. The lighting is typically natural day light and internal electrical lighting. The temperature varies depending on time of year. Safety equipment may include gloves, jacket, personal protective equipment while using cleaning and disinfectant solutions.

Physical Characteristics: Must be able to lift, push, pull and balance 100 lbs. Independent body mobility to stand and walk for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, sit and drive a vehicle.
Frequent standing, walking reaching, pushing, pulling and sitting. Occasional climbing. Will be required to utilize maintenance and cleaning tools and products.
Posture will vary, depending on the essential tasks being performed at that time and with the positional requirements at the time.
