Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opportunity for a Manager-Data Engineering. This role will ideally be based at our global headquarters in Allentown, PA.
As a Data Engineering Manager, you can expect to be a hands-on lead data engineer in creating an inspiring and productive work environment for other data engineers and building collaborative solutions with other teams. You are technically engaged with your team and their projects, not only guiding career growth and delivery efforts of the team, but establishing standard processes, driving quality, and encouraging reliability and governance standards Anticipate working with Python, SQL, Redshift, Airflow, and integrating data in AWS. You will also oversee developing new and enhancing existing data infrastructures along with aiding in scaling the company.
- Developing, hiring, and leading a team of data engineers.
- Working with third-party partners in creating data sources.
- Be a technical leader to help adopt data principles and event-driven architecture across teams and promote the idea of data as a product.
- Taking ownership of different hands-on projects and managing many stakeholders
- Estimating and planning team workload
- Developing standards and reusable ingestion pipelines
- Provide support for existing data ingestion pipelines.
- Build and maintain a roadmap of both business and technical initiatives and deliverables.
The successful Data Engineering Manager will possess the following experience and skills:
- Seasoned data engineer with experience in data infrastructure.
- Well-versed in using Python, SQL, Redshift, Airflow, and AWS.
- Competent in creating data lakes and integrating data in AWS.
- Experience in building, mentoring, and growing an engineering team.
- Exceptional at communicating technical concepts.
- Experience building and operating large scale production data pipelines.
- A passion for data solutions and willingness to pick up new programming languages, technologies, and frameworks.
- CI/CD processes and source control tools such as GitHub and related DevOps processes
- Desire to learn new technologies and ability to analyze the applicability of a technology in business context.
- Adept at defining and articulating a product vision, future roadmap in collaboration with leadership and key partners.
- Proven track record of managing projects and delivering projects on time and on budget.
- Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on data-driven decision making.
