The Managing Director, Analytics & Innovation is responsible for driving what we lovingly call our “Analytics Everywhere” strategy. We operate in a heavily data-driven environment, from federally-regulated activities to operational information, customer data and more. This key leader will enable business transformation and innovation deriving insights building predictive models, creating a highly-connected ecosystem that informs decisions across the airline. This position will serve as a thought leader with other senior business leaders, a partner to all of our strategic initiatives and an ambassador for a culture of greater experimentation using data The position will be charged with maintaining a reputation for United as an industry leader in leveraging data as an asset and a means to improve business outcomes. Additionally, this person will provide leadership and direction to a distributed team of analytics and process transformation professionals. This position is located in Chicago and is Hybrid.
Key Responsibilities:
Defines the sophisticated analytics strategy and is responsible for building United’s advanced analytics capabilities.
Identifies opportunity for business transformation through the application of advanced analytics and works in close collaboration with the other department leaders and across DT to understand needs, drive business value, and communicate results.
Influences strategic decisions, enterprise strategy, and connects the dots across the enterprise with an unbiased viewpoint.
Provides leadership and direction for large global team to innovate, transform, and tackle sophisticated business problems.
Is responsible for day-to-day operation and execution of major advanced analytics programs that affect the bottom line significantly.
Champions a fast-paced, risk-taking, collaborative, and fact-based culture across the enterprise.

Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, technology, engineering, or related field and/or equivalent work experience required.
10-15+ years of proven experience in data science, advanced analytics, or related experience.
Machine learning/ Artificial Intelligence experience.
Optimization / statistics knowledge.
Process transformation experience.
Proven track record of analytical implementations that positively affected the bottom line.
Demonstrated leadership ability in a team environment.
Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively.
Well established interpersonal skills, ability to influence and mentor at all organizational levels to get results.
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
Advanced degree (M.S. or equivalent) in operations research, statistics, or a related quantitative field or M.B.A.
Lean Six Sigma certification.
Airline Operations knowledge.
