THE ROLE
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Manufacturing Coordinator is responsible for all aspects pertaining to Production. Primary responsibilities include order processing, development and improvement of training material, Inventory control, Logistics backup and providing support to safety, employees, quality, production, and special projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manufacturing:
- Analyze manufacturing shop orders to ensure data is within product specifications.
- Manage transactions related to the IFS, coordinating the flow of materials and labor inside and outside the manufacturing plants: Receiving into inventory, issuing raw materials consumed, reviewing labor hours on shop orders, transferring to warehouse(s)
- Open and then close jobs accurately and timely once completed in Manufacturing.
- Support manufacturing quality reviews on production jobs and documentation: ensuring products are made to specifications, create NCR (Non-Conformance Reports) when required.
- Coordinate and assist with performing raw material inventory count and shop WIP (cyclic and physical) including generating controls related to variances
- Enter F/G and raw material counts into IFS
- Provide IFS training(s) for shop floor employees
- Create and upload to SharePoint MPR (Monthly Performance Report)
- Approval of manufacturing administrative NCR corrective actions
- Help improvement of manufacturing processes by supporting production for any and all special projects.
- Help organize the collection of material requisitions and sales samples
- Analyze future demand vs on-hand inventory to initiate quarterly forecasts for glass cutting and internally/externally sourced accessories, and regularly reviews BOMs in IFS.
- Analyze transaction histories and review current processes with the production plant and Process Engineering, recommend BOM updates HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment):
- Maintain a safe working environment by aligning with corporate safety rules and regulations, and ensuring a safety culture towards IIF (Incident and Injury Free)
- Completion of necessary HSE tools (ASA, take 5’s, Stop Work using Velocity etc)
- Actively participate in lean manufacturing initiatives to eliminate all forms of waste in the process
- Performs other duties as required to ensure the success of the business unit(s)
- Support Planning, Logistics & Finance teams
Operational Excellence:
- Identifies production documents requiring modification, updates, and improvements
- Provide support to the production team and operational excellence teams in the development of 5S and housekeeping practices, reducing downtime and material variances (wastes), increasing efficiencies and first-time quality, using SMS tools
(Ex: Gemba walks, spaghetti diagrams, VSM - Value Stream Mapping, and A3 problem solving)
Logistics Coordinator:
- Act as the backup for the Logistic Coordinator
- Maintain the Shipping Schedule
- Arrange for tank transportation
- Ensure all shipped tanks are fully delivered in IFS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Business Degree or College Diploma is preferred
- Minimum 1-2 years of previous related experience.
- Experience with manufacturing processes and knowledge of IFS would be an asset
- This role requires availability to work on-site (no remote work option is available)
- Must have knowledge and understanding of shop order process and ERP systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Package (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) skills.
- Must have good verbal and interpersonal skills
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Team player with ambition and drive to learn production process workflows.
