The Manufacturing Engineer will perform a variety of tasks for the transceiver or fiber production floor related to the manufacture, testing, and data collection of fiber-optic transceivers and cable assemblies. In addition, the individual supports the mechanical design and documentation necessary to advance the production capability and throughput of the COTSWORKS’ Operations department. This position is key in the technical analysis of product reliability, quality and performance issues in use by COTSWORKS Customers. This is a full-time, salaried position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The following outlines basic duties and responsibilities, which are not intended to be all-inclusive.

Operational Support for Transceiver or Fiber Production Floor

  • Sourcing, maintenance, and repair of production tools, equipment, and fixturing.
  • Process analysis and improvement for production throughput.
  • Failure analysis; including evaluation, repair, and retest of inventory fallout and customer RMAs.
  • Providing input for the workflow allocation of incoming sales orders.
  • Training technicians on new or updated processes.

Technical Documentation

  • Design, creation, and management of CAD models and/or technical drawings for products and/or fixtures.
  • Creation and management of work instructions and build procedures relevant to production processes.

ERP System Management

  • Creation, improvement, and management of build procedures and BOM requirements.
  • Report generation and data analysis relevant to production processes and throughput.

Engineering Project Management

  • Budgeting time, cost, and resources for projects aimed at process and/or product improvement.
  • Coordinating interdepartmental efforts and requirements for new product releases.

Sales Support

  • Creation and/or verification of customer-use CAD models, technical drawings, etc.
  • Providing input relating to manufacturability, lead times, and costs for products.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Two (2) years of CAD design experience in a manufacturing environment or a combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge and proven ability to successfully build fiber cable products.
  • Understanding of fiber-optic transceiver products and processes.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 practices and documentation.
  • Proficient with common office productivity tools and equipment (i.e., Microsoft Suite).
  • Proficient in analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient organizational, time management, and/or project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; highly detail-oriented.
  • Proficient in writing, verbally communicating, and presenting to various types of audiences.
  • Ability to build relationships while working with diverse groups in a collaborative manner.
  • Conducts oneself with a high-level of professionalism and personal integrity.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $68,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
