Job description
The Outreach, Community Engagement and Development Manager can be based in Denver or Colorado Springs. Our goal is to initiate, cultivate, and steward a diversified base of support from a variety of funding sources and constituents, including individual donors, foundations, corporations, special events, grants, and other sources to provide for the short- and long-term needs of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and execute a comprehensive development plan.
- Oversee development department budget and participate in overall development department planning.
- Cultivate and sustain relationships with a wide variety of constituencies including current donors, families of those in services, foundations, government sources, local businesses, and community partners.
- Administer and maintain donor database.
- Support the Board and CEO in developing relationships with prospects and donors.
- Research, write, edit, submit, and track grant applications.
- Manage reporting requirements for successful grant applications.
- Coordinate and implement all special events including logistics, materials and communication, event program, sponsorship, etc.
- Oversee the maintenance of the website, including writing and updating copy; reviewing/updating site architecture; and leading web improvement projects.
- Manage direct mail efforts, including newsletters, appeals, annual reports and social media.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising techniques and the Colorado development landscape.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical abilities that can be applied in aligning the organizations objectives with available funding opportunities.
- Understanding of general accounting practices, budget management, and financial management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, WordPress, and Donor databases (Fundraiser Select).
- Occasionally work weekends and nights attending fundraisers and community events as required.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to work well in an office environment with moderate noise levels from standard office equipment; occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.; regular walking, sitting, bending, twisting, and reaching; ability to perform consistent work on a computer required. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Interacts with coworkers frequently and occasionally with persons served.
- Colorado Driver’s license required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 5 years of fundraising experience with proven results.
