Reports To: Director of Manufacturing
RPM & Associates, Inc. is a progressive manufacturing company seeking an honest, extremely reliable, self-motivated professional to serve as Mechanic/Welder. This employee will perform a variety of mechanical and welding tasks. Duties of the Mechanic/Welder include loading & unloading journal assemblies, disassembling journal assemblies, washing components in our automated parts washer, helping with the inspection process, and reassembly of the journals. When required, operate our automated welding systems and perform weld repairs on journal assemblies.
Primary Duties or Functions:
- Immediately notify Director of Manufacturing of any safety issue or problem.
- Thoroughly clean and inspect journal assembly components and provide Director of Manufacturing with detailed/ documented replacement parts requirements. Repair components when applicable.
- Carefully reassemble journal assembly components and prepare them for final inspection and shipment.
- Weld components as directed and as per company, customer and/or engineering specifications.
- Learn and perform welding using our various automated weld systems.
- Maintain all equipment as per manufacturer or company schedules, or as directed. Immediately notify management on any equipment that needs attention.
- Assist in the development of written process documentation as required and directed.
- Keep production areas and any other work areas safe, clean and organized.
- Make recommendations for tooling, fixturing, process requirements and/or equipment needs. This will be based upon procedures and company or customer requirements.
- Shift work and/or travel may be required dependent upon customer needs and per company discretion.
- Safely handle parts and materials with appropriate industrial trucks, hoists, overhead cranes and associated rigging. Use of applicable Personal Protective Equipment is required at all times.
- Learn and effectively use RPM Time Tracker system for tracking of time and materials associated with the applicable job tickets.
- All RPM employees will conduct themselves in a mature, respectful and professional manner. Being a team player is a must here at RPM.
- Follow all RPM policies, programs and procedures.
Additional Duties or Functions:
- Work with manufacturing and engineering to determine welding requirements, as required.
- Keep Director of Manufacturing advised of usage and reorder requirements for consumables and materials utilizing company purchase order system.
- Assist management in employee training if required.
- Perform other duties as required and directed.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in mechanical work environment or mechanical trade school certificate of graduation preferred.
- Welding experience highly preferred.
- Must be able to understand and accurately follow through on verbal directions.
- Must be able to read, interpret and accurately follow through on written work directions.
- Must be able to read blueprints.
- Must be able to create sketches for the creation of blueprints.
- Must be able to perform measurements with standard measurement equipment and layout tools.
Work Environment/Physical Requirement:
- Must be able to frequently lift, carry and/or position 50+ pounds, as required.
- Safety glasses, non-marring safety toe footwear and hearing protection required in production areas.
- RPM and Associates, Inc. operates a smoke-free and drug free facility.
- There may be some bending and crawling. Employee may have to stand on feet for hours at a time.
Wage: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
