Description:

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Designer for one of the top employers in Berks County.

Responsibilities:

• Creates bills of materials, assembly and layouts drawings for equipment and plant layout. Under general direction of the engineering manager and the direct supervision of an engineering coordinator, creates design and detail models and drawings for manufacturing, the technical services department, and customers. Redesigns existing equipment and modifies existing drawings for retrofit projects.
• Under the direction of the engineering coordinator, designs and details equipment and component parts using computer assisted drawing packages (CAD) to generate drawings and illustrations
• Assists designers by modifying, and redesigning existing equipment by creating three dimensional models and sub-assemblies
• Ensures drawings satisfy the required engineering and manufacturing standards.
• Completes Bills of Materials by listing drawing number for manufactured parts
• May be asked to provide functional guidance and direction to less qualified drafters on operating the CAD system, applying client standards for three dimensional modeling, drawings, material selection, component parts, and system designs.
• Advises Company, Engineering, and Manufacturing Management on issues that will improve product quality and production processes.
• Provides feedback to co-workers, supervisor and Company management on a regular basis to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Qualifications:

• Must have a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least a 3.0 GPA.
• OR 2-7 years of experience with AS Degree in related field
