Overview:
The general role of the Mechanical Engineer – Engineering is to provide engineering services and support for the Pillar Mechanical Engineering team by providing complete automation solutions to our varied manufacturing and packaging customers.
The Mechanical Engineer will require the efficient and innovative designing/specifying of automated systems for the conveyance, processing and handling that is utilized by modern companies to produce, manufacture, package and distribute product. This will require integration of robotics; selecting proper plant conveyance systems; designing unique tooling for special processes/handling; incorporating electromechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; and providing proper safety features with interlocks within the customer’s plant facility.
The Mechanical Engineer will report to the Division Manager and will work primarily out of the Evansville, IN Pillar Shop location.

- Confirm system and product capabilities by approved and testing methods; testing properties
- Develop mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; applying proven manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators
- Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes
- Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests
- Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
- Complete projects by training and guiding technicians
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Qualifications:
- Must be a citizen of the United States with a valid driver’s license
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Controls Engineering
- Experience in Automotive, Manufacturing Automation
- Proficient use of engineering software such as AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, SolidWorks and standard software such as Word and Excel
- Self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a team or individual setting
- Demonstrated organization skills to assimilate information provided by coworkers, clients, suppliers and outside organizations
- Ability to convey technical information to members of management, coworkers and clients
- Provide a positive interaction with customers while representing Pillar Innovations
- Willingness to travel to customer’s site when an engineer is required for planning, installing, commissioning and maintaining equipment
- Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations
- Ability to meet deadlines
