Job Description
The successful candidate will design HVAC and Plumbing/Piping system for a variety of facility projects. Tasks include developing design calculations, process flow diagrams, sequences of operation, equipment selection and layout, ductwork and piping sizing and layout, support of project proposals, interdisciplinary coordination and participating of QA/QC process. Part time efforts will be devoted to site inspection and construction administration.
Requirements
- Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Sciences in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program is required.
- Minimum eight (8) years related experience.
- Required Certifications: P.E. (Professional Engineer) license or the ability to obtain within twelve (12) months.
- Strong experience with thermal load calculation and energy modeling for mechanical systems.
- Strong experience in calculating and sizing of mechanical equipment including AHUs, fans, and pumps.
- Strong experience in sizing and laying out ductwork and hydronic piping systems.
- Must be familiar with AutoCAD.
- Must have experience Revit building information modeling software.
- Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
Responsibilities
- Must be willing to work in a design team environment, including directing the work of junior engineers and designers, and delegating work as required as well as take design direction from senior-level engineers
- Interdisciplinary coordination
- Develop calculations, flow diagrams, and specifications
- Size and layout ductwork, hydronic and plumbing piping systems
- Lead QA/QC processes
- Proficient with codes, standards, and guidelines
Physical Requirements
- Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
- Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted.
- May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
