Mechanical Maintenance
Plan and perform a range of duties to maintain, service, and repair plant machinery and facilities, including a
normal range of gas and arc welding, flame cutting and fabrication operations.

Duties:
1. Work from oral and published job instructions, manufacturers' installation or service manuals, blueprints,
sketches, plant layouts and similar data.
2. Provide effective service, maintenance and repair to machines, equipment and facilities,
3. Answer service calls or assignments; determine and trace cause of malfunction or improper operation.
4. Tear down, determine extent of troubles, repair or replace defective mechanism or parts; reassemble and
adjust for proper operation assisting operator.
5. Select and specify replacement parts.
6. Perform exacting hand and bench operations involving filing, drilling, tapping, grinding, scraping and
soldering to repair parts or details, or to make new parts for replacement.
7. Request assistance from supervisor in unusual circumstances or where problems are highly involved and
complex.
8. Install and align machines and equipment, check for proper operation and make adjustments or corrections to
obtain proper performance. Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and standards.
9. Use effectively tools and devices such as jacks, hoists, pendant cranes, chain cable, ropes, skids, roller and
power equipment such as winches, tractors, lift trucks and pipe threader.
10. Perform routine maintenance and service duties such as repair and maintain portable power equipment, pumps
compressors, air or hydraulic devices and other apparatus..
11. Perform a range of bench and hand operations requiring skill and a general knowledge of construction and
operation principles of machines and mechanisms to make repairs and adjustments to various types of
equipment.
12. Perform regular and emergency welding repair work on all plant machines, equipment and facilities.
13. Perform routine prescribed duties in lubricating plant machinery and equipment as designated by supervisor
or by written instructions and guidelines.
14. Operate material moving equipment such as forklifts, cranes, hoists, etc., while giving proper care to the
material being moved to ensure the uninterrupted flow of production.
15. May be required to assist other crafts in the maintenance department when extra help is needed.
16. Detect and report questionable material, faulty operation, to Supervisor to schedule repairs.
17. Give proper care to equipment and tools used.
18. Complete required work records.
19. Practice good housekeeping. This will include, but not be limited to, sweeping, keeping work area free of all
clutter, and proper storage of all tools and other work related items.
20. May be required to provide on the job training to co-workers new to their position.
21. Observe prescribed safety regulations to prevent injury to self and others.
22. Must be able to proficiently operate a forklift.

Training/Experience Requirements:
1. 4-6 years employment in a similar role
2. High School Diploma/GED
3. Vocational/Trade School Certification
