We are hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Compressors Center of Excellence team. This position is eligible for a Hybrid work schedule and will be based out of our Bloomington, MN location, which is home of our compressor qualification laboratory. This is great opportunity for you to grow into a subject matter expert (SME) through mentorship, teamwork, and data collection during engineering activities. Our Mechanical Engineer develops and implements modifications to current model compressor products for our Transport Refrigeration and Air Conditioning products.

What you will do:

  • Host engineering and project meetings with engineering, lab, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and stakeholders to drive project timing. Meet scheduled milestones, ensure compressor reliability and performance. Present Independent Design Reviews and Gate Meetings with internal platform teams and successfully integrating compressors into refrigeration systems to show engineering rigor in solving complex problems.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather relevant information to provide project direction. As a team, you will develop robust technical justification to drive action at compressor assembly, component machining or casting, drawing updates, at TK facility, or at a supplier.
  • Work with SMEs to develop test and validation plans to mitigate product risk, and qualify changes. Utilize Design Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (DFMEAs) and requirements flow down to drive testing activities.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation including specifications, technical reports, lab test results, review drawings, and review solid models. Obtain agreement with affected suppliers and plants that updated specifications are achievable, measurable, and economic. Justify specification changes in documentation.
  • Potential travel once to twice a year for 1 week

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering required
  • 2+ Years of relevant experience & able to work with minimal support
  • Experience with Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DMFEA)/Will be leading meetings & developing documentation
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
  • MS Office Suite
  • Sharepoint

Nice to Have:

  • Sand Casting, Permanent Mold Casting, Squeeze Casting, Die Casting, Metallurgy, or Chemistry
  • Design of rotating machinery: Engines, transmissions, compressors, pumps, motors, turbomachinery/Client willing to train

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $58.00 per hour
