Mechanical Reliability Engineer
Job description
Crystal Instruments is seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer as its business grows at a fast and steady pace. This role requires a mechanical engineering background and expertise combined with demonstrated experience using AutoCAD / SolidWorks or similar CAD modelling. Demonstrated experience using ANSYS or similar engineering simulation software is required.
This position is located at the Kannapolis, North Carolina office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and assist with drawings of enclosures for Crystal Instruments’ current and new products.
- Define reliability requirements and objectives for Crystal Instruments’ products and systems, taking into account customer needs, industry standards, and regulations.
- Plan, design, and conduct environmental tests, such as temperature and humidity tests, to evaluate product performance and reliability.
- Use CAD simulation tools to perform failure analysis
- Design tests for identifying failure conditions
- Analyze test data and evaluate product reliability and make recommendations for improvements.
- Work with design engineers to develop and implement reliability-focused design changes and improvements.
- Develop and maintain reliability models and databases to support decision-making and risk assessment activities.
- Develop and maintain reliability testing procedures and protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that reliability requirements are integrated into the product development process.
- Provide technical support for warranty and product liability issues, as needed.
- Stay current with advances in reliability engineering, testing, and analysis techniques.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge of mechanical design, material science, and failure mechanisms of electronic products
- Demonstrated experience with using AutoCAD / SolidWorks or similar CAD modelling
- Demonstrated experience using ANSYS or similar engineering simulation software
- Experience developing and performing reliability tests including (but not limited to) mechanical, shock, vibration, environmental, and characterization testing
- Knowledge of industry test standards including ASTM, MIL, JEDEC, and IEC
- Technical expertise: In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices, as well as experience with reliability engineering and testing techniques.
- Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and analyze problems, develop solutions, and implement corrective actions to improve product reliability.
- Data analysis skills: Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to collect, organize, and analyze data, and make recommendations based on findings.
- Design experience: Understanding of product design principles and the ability to work with design engineers to integrate reliability requirements into the product development process.
- Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Project management skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Collaboration skills: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, production staff, and senior management.
- Continuous learning: A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, staying up-to-date with advances in reliability engineering, testing, and analysis techniques.
- Industry certifications: Relevant certifications, such as Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), are highly desirable.
