Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE)
JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Director is responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of Piedmont Health SeniorCare’s primary care services, including general oversight of all clinical aspects of care, in addition to providing direct primary medical care to all participants of the program. Key responsibilities include: Direct patient care at the PACE center; call and inpatient work; administrative duties, including supervision of clinical professional staff and serving as the liaison between the program and the physician community.
The Medical Director is responsible for the delivery of participant care, clinical outcomes, and the implementation and oversight of the quality improvement program. The Medical Director is responsible for achieving the best clinical outcomes possible for all participants. The Medical Director maintains medical policies/standards and protocol. The Medical Director uses data comparing the program with other PACE programs and the organization’s data to demonstrate internal improvements in outcomes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience: Graduate from an accredited School of Medicine, Fellowship training in Geriatrics preferred. At least 2-3 years clinical experience with supervisory and administrative experience. One year of experience with the frail or elderly preferred. Must have proven clinical and administrative leadership abilities.

- Must meet a standardized set of competencies established by Piedmont Health SeniorCare and approved by CMS before working independently
- Must only act within the scope of his/her authority to practice
Type of Employees Supervised: SeniorCare Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and other clinical staff.
Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: Current license to practice medicine in NC; Valid NC driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Immunizations: Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date prior to beginning employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to medical providers, patients and multiple personnel in person and over the telephone.
Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Must meet certification by colorblind standards.
Other: Will be working with potentially hazardous chemicals, exposure to patient body fluids.
Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids.
