POSITION TITLE: Medical Director – Psychiatrist (Part-Time)
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, Physician
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Chief Program Officer
SUMMARY:
Are you an experienced Psychiatrist or Medical Director seeking additional hours in a leadership role? Are you seeking to supplement your clinical practice and want to make a difference to an underserved population? If so, Community Solutions is the place for you! We are seeking a Medical Director for up to 20 hours per week.
As the Medical Director you will be responsible for supervision and oversight of Community Solution's Psychiatric Services. Community Solutions has a compassionate, strengths-based, client-centered, trauma-informed team and service delivery approach. In this position, you will be a trusted member of the senior leadership team and will report to the Chief Program Officer. You will be responsible for the delivery of quality psychiatric care and programming consistent with agency mission, values, best practices, contract requirements, and government regulations. Community Solutions is contracted for almost $5 million of medication support services annually, with 9 prescribers and 2 nurses working with behavioral health clients spanning youth and adults. We work with numerous specialized populations, including those involved in the criminal justice system.
This part-time leadership position is eligible for hybrid or remote work, with intermittent travel required to our headquarters in Gilroy. Candidates based within a commutable distance to Gilroy or San Jose, California preferred.
What You'll Be Doing in the role of Medical Director:
- 75% administrative leadership and 25% clinical care.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and oversight of all client care for psychiatric and nursing staff.
- Be available to answer questions and provide direct client services as well as support clinic crisis services.
- Assure that all individuals served receive appropriate psychiatric evaluations and are supported in accessing integrated services to address active behavioral health conditions.
- Oversee medical peer review process and provide on-going physician education to support providers’ growth, improve quality of care, and maintain compliance with laws and ethics of the psychiatry field.
- Ensure adequate psychiatric staffing and services to provide care that is part of a comprehensive and individualized treatment approach.
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and respond to client inquiries, concerns, and complaints.
- Collaborate with leadership to improve our clinical approach and processes in order to create the most effective care for individuals served.

- Current California state medical license (MD or DO in psychiatry) in good standing with the medical board.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-residency clinical experience.
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medi-Cal Regulations and documentation.
- Ability to effectively lead a diverse and multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Clinical experience with a wide range ages and acuity levels.
- System thinker able to analyze the system of care, identify service gaps, and work collaboratively with all stakeholders to develop and implement solutions.
- Prior experience as a Medical Director strongly preferred.

Special Requirements:
- Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance as required by specific programs, licensing regulations and Community Solutions practices.
- Licenses: Must be active and in good standing as a licensed physician by the California Medical Board, hold an active board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and possess a controlled substance registration certificate through the DEA.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, current car insurance and a good driving record as documented by a DMV report and consistent with the Agency’s liability insurance requirements.
- Requires an automobile to perform routine job duties.
