Description

Metering Specialist – Training Instructor

Location: This is a hybrid position with onsite meeting attendance required.

SUMMARY OF EXPECTATIONS

This position's primary responsibility is developing and delivering training activities in the areas of Revenue Metering, Communication, Meter Service Order Work and other meter related courses to provide safe, reliable and accurate Metering Systems. This position reports to the Workforce Planning & Training Manager for Customer Strategy & Solutions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Two-year Technical Associate Degree/Certificate (or equivalent electrical/electronic work experience) preferred
  • Experience as a Meter Specialist (optional)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with installation, testing and maintenance of commercials and industrial metering systems and current metering technologies
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience as a MeterTech A with GPC is preferred

JOB RE SPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote safe work practices
  • Develop training programs for new equipment, software and procedures using adult learning principles
  • Develop web based training
  • Write technical training manuals and work instructions
  • Instruct classes
  • Proactively identify training needs and develop solutions to address needs

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Thorough understanding of advanced commercial and industrial meter systems
  • Extensive knowledge of installation and operating procedures for metering equipment and programming software
  • Extensive knowledge of common business practices related to Metering Services, Company Operations, Policies and Procedures
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Strong communication skills including both written and verbal skills with the ability to interact professionally with all employees and across departments
  • Well organized and able to effectively prioritize tasks
  • Ability to put technical information into lesson plan format for training classes
  • Ability to make classroom presentation in a professional and understandable manner
  • Ability to transfer knowledge to students
  • Proven ability to handle multiple project and competing deadlines
  • Strong leadership skills
