The National Director of Business Development is responsible for the strategy and development of the business through sales, marketing, product development, and customer experience activities to drive business growth and market share. This position requires a direct, initiative-taking, smart, and emotionally intelligent individual who thrives in a fast-moving, dynamic environment within a complex and fast-changing industry. Being effective in this role requires a natural aptitude for building strong, trusting partnerships both internally and externally.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a member of the sales leadership team, working with the team to shape strategy, guide business decisions, drive execution, nurture a healthy culture, and achieve business goals.
- Develop overall strategy and growth targets
- Grow market share through revenue growth in products, customers, and market segments, partnering with the health plan president and sales leadership team to establish goals.
- Partner in the development of the value proposition and growth strategy, informed by market intelligence, backed by consumer insights, and aligned to DocGo’s enterprise vision.
- Translate the DocGo vision and growth strategy into a long-range strategic plan and set of market-segment plans with well-defined goals, linking downstream product and marketing plans.
- Develop near term (18 months) products and execute the development.
- Execute a disciplined approach to product development lifecycle, including product roadmaps that support growth plans and an emerging product portfolio to align with market-segment value propositions and customer expectations inclusive of leading the actuarial team.
- Effectively collaborate with internal and external partners and customers to continuously refine the company’s product, capabilities, and services roadmap, developing growth strategies to support the goals.
- Build internal sales team to effectively develop distribution channel.
- Drive development and generation of relationships with internal sales team, new relationships/products/platforms through business development efforts, creating an expanded value proposition that appeals to both existing new prospective customers.
- Partner with broader team to develop and activate enterprise pricing strategies that balance DocGo’s financial and growth objectives with a competitive product portfolio.
- Work with enterprise marketing to shape the product’s marketing strategy and development of brand-level, market segment, and product-level marketing plans.
- Collaborate with enterprise marketing to develop the product/service value proposition story, aligned with DocGo’s vision and growth strategy. This includes developing presentation materials and a narrative to communicate the Hospital and Transport story to existing and prospective customers.
- Leverages relationships with internal and external partners to uncover profitable growth and cross-sell opportunities within new or existing customers.
- Provide thought leadership, insight and support for finalist presentations and RFPs, including strategy, positioning, and delivery.
- Ensure a timely and accurate system for managing with the processes, data, and infrastructure required for monitoring business performance, making business decisions, and translating market intelligence into strategic implications.
- Commitment to growth and development of people by championing individual strengths and ensuring team skills evolve with the changing competitive landscape.
- Align teams around strategies and decisions while empowering leaders to elevate and inspire their teams, solve problems, and navigate conflict.
- Evolve organizational structure and sales/product disciplines to advance DocGo’s growth strategy, adopting a strategic orientation while breaking down barriers that impede agility, flexibility, and speed to market.
- Consistently challenge and influence team to deliver clear and measurable outcomes, exceed profitable growth and revenue targets, achieve operational excellence, and demonstrate a relentless focus on customer acquisition, retention, value, and customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Finance, Marketing, Business Management, or another business-related discipline. MBA or MHA a plus.
- 15+ years executive leadership with a mid to large size company focused on healthcare, technology, consulting, with broad experience in strategic planning, product development, business development, innovation, financial management, market intelligence, market segment strategy.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Proven experience developing and driving the execution of growth strategies in support of top-line revenue growth and profitability. Record of successfully growing revenue, managing margins, and creating new sources of value.
- An authentic servant leader who leads by example, values diverse perspectives, and acts with empathy while building trust, credibility, and followership.
- A deep understanding of key trends and forces driving change across the health care ecosystem, leveraging this knowledge and the incumbent’s external network to advantage DocGo’s growth strategy and competitive position.

- A clear understanding of the value-based care vs. fee-for-service model, and US healthcare economics (i.e., gross vs. net drug pricing, risk-sharing arrangements, government healthcare programs, etc.).
- Knowledge of chronic respiratory conditions (i.e., COPD, Asthma), specialty pharmacy, and/or population health management is a plus.
- Effective communication and facilitation skills with all levels of the organization and executive-level external partners, including the ability to resolve issues and build consensus among groups of diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build collaborative, strategic relationships with a variety of people and personality types, both inside and outside the company.
- Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
