Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Social Work, Public Policy, Public Health, or in a field related to the job. Three (3) years experience in community outreach or neighborhood wide community programs.
- Masters Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Social Work, Public Policy, Public Health, or in a field related to the job, may substitute for one year related work experience.
- Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.

Applicants represent the City of Austin and the Austin Police Department (APD) Office of Community Liaison (OCL) as the Faith Community Liaison. Applicants will be the primary
lead in creating & maintaining a collaborative community relationship between the Faith Community and APO supporting various community programs with local Faith Community businesses, organizations, and schools to plan future culturally specific programs and activities to further Faith populations, including the youth and the elderly, in their connections with the APO and the Austin community by educating the Faith Communities about public safety, and the importance of overcoming the cultural stigma when it comes to interacting with police.

Applicants will attend the Austin Faith Community Network of Austin as well as coordinate, develop, implement, and attend a variety of safety promotions, train residents in neighborhood support activities with outreach and education efforts mainly focusing on the Faith Community by listening, responding, and teaching citizens about their rights and accessibility to police services for those of the Faith Community. They will also participate in other OCL programs in the community such as Operation Blue Santa, National Night Out, and the National Faith and Blue Weekend.

$24.42 – $28.65

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Meet with neighborhood residents, leaders, and community groups to identify needs and available resources.
- Coordinate, plan, and develop programs and activities to address resident’s economic, social service, and community improvement needs; and/or improve coordination of existing services.
- Develop and implement a variety of health and/or safety promotions, outreach, and education efforts.
- Coordinate volunteer programs, train residents in neighborhood support activities, including grant writing.
- Support Self-Reliant Neighborhood activities for neighborhood improvement.
- Assist in the establishment or revitalization of neighborhood associations and neighborhood watch blocks.
- Represent the City of Austin before community groups.
- Write, draft, and complete reports and/or documents.
