Location: Ocean Campus - 50 Frida Kahlo Way
Application Type: Permanent Exempt, Full-time (40 hours), Full-year (260 days) position. This position is excluded from the Charter for the competitive civil service examination process and shall serve at the discretion of the Appointing Officer.
Salary Range: (Steps 1 - 5) $47.7457 - 57.9958 hourly
$99,311 - $120,631 annually
Under the direction of the ITS Network Manager this position will provide support for daily management, implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of network and communications systems; perform staging, installation and support of equipment; provide problem identification and resolution, act as liaison with vendors for problem escalation, diagnosis and resolution of IT problems; define, document and implement guidelines and operational standards; and ensure optimal network performance.
- Perform hands-on implementation and support for approximately 175 network switches and routers.
- Configure network and communications services for new and remodeled facilities.
- Support use of Virtual Private Networking (VPN)
- Utilize network management tools to monitor network activity across all CCSF Campuses and Centers.
- Perform ongoing review of contingency plans to include replacement parts and respond to outages in a timely manner.
- Update network support documentation and diagrams as needed using Visio.
- Configure, install and provide ongoing management of Cisco-Meraki Wi-Fi Access Points. Assist with Wi-Fi client support as needed.
- Provide technical support and maintenance of Alcatel-Lucent VoIP telephone system.
- Document and maintain fiber and copper cabling systems. Identify new cabling solutions and coordinate vendor installation services.
- Onboard and offboard employee network services following appropriate standard operating procedure.
- Collaborate with other members of the ITS Department for technology projects.
- Learn and apply emerging technologies as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized and timely manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Requires an associate degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field].
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience performing analysis, installation, and technical support in a network environment.
Note: One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 200 hours. (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
Substitution:
Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closely related field.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work requirements: Some positions may require sufficient strength and coordination for lifting, pushing, pulling and/or carrying the weight of computer equipment. May require bending, stooping and/or crawling in order to install or repair computer or printer cables. May require hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity for semi-skilled movements such as, taking apart casings, installing parts, reconnecting computers and data entry. This position may be required rotational, shift, and overtime work.

Benefits: Additional Days Off with Pay. As stipulated in the appropriate bargaining agreements and board resolutions, Classified employees working full-year (260 days/year) work schedules are granted, as paid days off, the days between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, as well as an additional five (5) paid days off during spring break. Eligible school-term-only (STO) employees who are not scheduled to work the designated days between Christmas and New Year’s Day shall be granted three (3) paid days off to be scheduled by mutual agreement between the employee and supervisor. Eligible school-term-only (STO) employees who are not scheduled to work the days designated as Spring Break will not be paid for these days off.
New employees hired on or after October 1, 2013 will contribute 2% of salary to the San Francisco Retiree Health Care Trust Fund (RHCTF).
