General Purpose:
The Nurturing Parenting Assistant provides program support and planning for the Nurturing Parenting program. Provides appropriate developmental care for children and youth ranging in ages from 6 weeks to 16 years and delivers prepared meals directly to homes.
This position requires a creative, compassionate, personable, motivated, and highly organized individual capable of assisting in a variety of program activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and supervise children constantly to maintain a safe and positive environment.
- Ensure the children’s everyday needs are met - this may include diapering, dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting during class operations.
- Ensure children are kept active, entertained, and engaged in developmental activities.
- Ensure all legal guidelines and health and safety policies are always followed.
- Monitor and report behavior or safety concerns to parent and supervisor.
- Manage childcare attendance and report attendance to supervisor on a nightly basis.
- Cleans interactive areas throughout the day.
- Assists the cook with packing of food and follows food safety guidelines at all times.
- Loads food into vehicle for delivery and unloads items back into kitchen for cleaning when needed.
- Delivers meals to designated Catholic Charities’ program participants in a timely fashion to ensure safe temperature and integrity of the food.
- Keeps daily log of meal deliveries and other required reporting data and submits monthly mileage reimbursement in compliance with agency policies.
- Assists cook in performing cleaning duties in accordance with sanitation, safety, and infection control policies and procedures including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing walls and equipment while wearing personnel protective equipment.
- Removes and properly disposes of trash from vehicle.
- Communicates any issues during delivery to Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator.
- Other duties as assigned by Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to tolerate the use of personal protective equipment such as gloves, aprons, and eye protection and to withstand sight and smell of food garbage.
- Capable of maintaining a set schedule.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain attendance and travel logs and submit mileage reimbursements and other reports in a timely fashion.
- Adherence to dress code, especially when in the kitchen.
- Ability to be a team player and work with diverse populations.
- Warm and positive demeanor with clients and other staff.
- Clear and tactful communicator, especially in sensitive situations.
- Food handler’s card, or the ability to get a card within a month of being hired.
- Use of a personal vehicle with up-to-date driver’s license, insurance, and Colorado registration. Must have clean driving record.
Education and Experience:
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in related work required. Experience with food service strongly preferred.
License: Ability to obtain food handler’s card is required.
