Job Summary:

The Operational Improvement team’s vision is to improve service and lower the overall expense of our operation through process improvements and system developments. This role helps the team achieve this mission by leading the identification, development, and implementation of operational improvements throughout Distribution Services. It also integrates strategic projects within the warehouse with a continued focus on driving operational efficiency. This role will partner with support areas to identify, evaluate, and implement new industry technologies. It will also support the performance excellence accountability program (PUMBAA) and the implementation of a new warehouse management system and labor management system.

You will report to Manager-Distribution Services

Responsibilities/You Will

  • Identify areas of opportunity and build strategies to improve processes, provide data analysis, and partner with leadership and support partners to implement strategic warehouse initiatives.
  • Lead all aspects of project planning from ideation to implementation including design, development, implementation, and operational readiness.
  • Lead new technology implementations that enhance business efficiencies by researching new technology applications, quantifying potential opportunities, and leading pilot programs within Operations.
  • Partner with Operations to understand operational challenges and influence change.
  • Communicate regularly with Operations leadership, frontline Cast Members, and support partners including Industrial Engineering and Supply Chain.
  • Support ongoing software / WMS testing and various migrations.
  • Provide operational and project support to other OI disciplines, including providing an operational perspective for reporting and initiatives.
  • Partner with the IT team to be a primary operational point of contact for the new WMS transition.
  • Improve performance accountability program by implementing engineered work standards into new areas and updating existing standards as needed.
  • Perform ad hoc performance observations and Cast Member communication strategies.
  • Troubleshoot system issues as needed.

Basic Qualifications/You Will Have

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in acquiring, organizing, cleaning, and manipulating large amounts of data.
  • Strong MS Office skills, with a focus on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, communication, and influential skills.
  • Strong presentation skills (to hourly Cast, senior and executive leadership).
  • Proven ability to learn, specifically technical systems.
  • Experience working in a Walt Disney World operations environment, union preferred.
  • Demonstrated interaction and conflict leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience performing exploratory and quantitative analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in warehousing (including performance management experience).
  • Experience leading in a unionized environment.
  • Experience with sophisticated analytics systems, business intelligence systems, and data accessing systems such as Teradata, Business Objects, Tableau, SQL, SAS, etc.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) such as Blue Yonder, Oracle Retail Warehouse Management Systems (ORWMS), Wynright Automation (WCS), Symphony EYC (Gold Stock) WMS, etc.
  • Experience in web development.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in one or more of the following disciplines: Industrial Engineering, Business, Information Technology, Operations Management, or a related field.

Preferred Education

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college in one or more of the following disciplines: Industrial Engineering, Business, Information Technology, Operations Management, or a related field.
