Overview:
This person is a qualified individual and assists the Production Supervisor on directing the daily activities on a designated shift in a safe and efficient manner to achieve the desired quality, quantity, and timely packaging of finished goods.
Responsibilities:
  • Review all pertinent SOPs and is a QI (Qualified Individual) for the position.
  • Assist Production Supervisor coordinating shift production and material handling activities through supervision of employees to ensure the shift’s production objectives are accomplished in a timely, cost effective and safe manner.
  • Review staffing for all departments with the Production Supervisor.
  • Assist Production Supervisor in providing direction, development, evaluation, coaching and leadership to employees.
  • Ensure all required production reporting is timely and accurate.
  • Review required daily reports to record the daily work.
  • Maintain good employee relations.
  • Be a mentor and lead by example.
  • Responsible for ensuring on-time training to associates, including (but not limited to) Safety and Food Safety training.
  • Maintain company standards for cleanliness, productivity, and maintenance.
  • Complete and verify changeovers safely and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, BRC, OSHA and HACCP support programs; ensure conformity to all company, customer, and government standards.
  • Strive to be a safety solutions leader. Participate in engagement activities, complete required safety training and aid in identifying hazards within the facility utilizing BBS and safety / quality related programs.
  • Participate in activities related to Marzetti Operational Excellence.
Supervisory Responsibility:
May fill in leading the shift in the Production Supervisor’s absence. During such occurrences the Operations Lead would supervise approximately 15-25 individuals.
Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and math skills are required.
  • Prior leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Must have basic math and communication skills and knowledge to comprehend label instructions.
  • Must have good working knowledge of basic principles skills in a food processing facility.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to set up machinery and monitor machine operation and product flow.
  • Must have manual dexterity to move safely in an area of automated equipment.
  • Must have manual dexterity to accommodate machine adjustments, and feeding of supplies/ingredients.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the shift.
Working Conditions/Environment:
Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Must be able to move 40 – 50 pounds a distance of 25 feet or more at various frequencies and or intervals. Must be able to stand for an 8 – 10-hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive tasks. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment. The noise level is loud in the plant. Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
