SLB Surface Production Systems (SFP) Division is currently seeking a full-time experienced Engineer to join our engineering team as a US Land (USL) Mechatronic Operations Support Engineer based in Houston, Texas with opportunities to travel to labs, shops, and field.
The Mechatronic Operations Support Engineer is responsible for performing mechanical/electrical/computing design, complete technical analyses, and resolving engineering requests for SLB Automated and Digital Technologies within SFP. The Operations Support Engineer’s primary responsibility includes providing such technical support to USL Aftermarket Operations Facilities & Product Line, Customer, and Field Locations/Well Sites for enhancing positive and reducing negative impacts to product and service delivery.
The Operations Support Engineer responds to request by providing:
- technical expertise to SFP Operations for specific products, equipment, and processes through recommendations and consultations.
- engineering analytics and consultations of equipment that is designated as non-conforming.
- engineering support of failure Investigations, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Corrective/Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- management assistance of aftermarket engineering documents and document management systems.
- field implementation support to assist in commercialization of SFP Aftermarket New Technology and overall Product Development.
Essential Tasks/Functions
- Provide Operations teams with 24 x 7 On-Call technical support, giving immediate engineering solutions for field issues to minimize delays
- Prioritize, clarify, and resolve engineering support requests
- Act as engineering & design point of contact for Operations, Sales, Customers, & Vendors
- Assist the Design/Technical Engineer with implementing technical programs and bids.
- Produce analyses and mathematical models and draw design conclusions based on those engineering reviews.
- Conduct or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other artifacts.
- Verify Equipment Compatibility
- Create or modify Aftermarket engineering document such as Maintenance, Operations, and Assembly Procedure/Guideline Requirements
- Review & disposition aftermarket repairs, non-conforming parts, and equipment substitution requests
- Support the facilities SFP Failure/Incident investigation process and drive engineering corrective actions. Serve as a key contributor in the Aftermarket investigation reviews by participating and providing expertise
- Assign, direct, and review work of technicians and provide guidance to engineers. With seniority, mentor junior engineers.
- Support technical integrity and competency by comprehending and supporting the Design-Execute-Evaluate process.
- Champion the submission of best practices, case histories, lessons learned and solutions Knowledge Database.
- Establish and maintain a close relationship with digital technology center engineering groups.
- Engage customer contacts to promote company products and services.

Minimum Job Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer Science, and/or Mechanical are preferred)
- 2-3 years’ experience in Oil & Gas
- 2-3 years’ experience in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic control systems
- Experience in hydraulic fracturing technology
- Strong Project Management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Candidate must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without Sponsorship
Travel Requirement
- Estimated 20% of time traveling to customer field locations/offices & Operational Headquarters
Work Environment:
- Teleworking/Flexible Work schedule (BlueFLEX).
- Spends approximately 95% of the time in an office environment outside of traveling.
- Lab, shop, & field exposure if visiting that work environment for short periods of time which requires lifting, walking, stooping, bending, and some climbing
- Physical demands include:
o Office environment where there is sitting, operating a computer, walking and some lifting.
o Lab/Shop/Field environment where there is some potential exposure to possible lab/shop/field hazards when visiting that includes high noise, heavy machinery, and shop traffic. Frequent sitting and operating a computer and meeting with customers. Potential hands on exposure as well.
- Fast paced atmosphere with multiple priorities and constant change.
