Position Summary:

Acts as first medical contact for incoming emergency department patients and provide rapid triage/evaluation. Assesses patient presentation and administers emergency medical care. Responsible for assisting other clinical staff by performing patient care tasks as delegated by the registered nurse and in accordance with the paramedic's level of education and training.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Performs emergency patient care and continuous monitoring of patients.
  • Assists with patient care in emergency department.
  • Performs emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures (IV, medication administration) within scope of practice as determined by paramedic licensure and established policy and procedure.
  • Observes, records, and reports to RN and/or physician the patient's condition or injury. Assesses nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Completion of paramedic education program.
  • Valid state paramedic license.
  • CPR and ACLS certified.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in paramedic science.
  • One year experience as a paramedic.
Weekend/Holiday Requirements:

Selected candidate will be required to work weekends 2 & 4 of the 28-day schedule, as well as the Holiday B rotation.
