Valley Village Retirement Community is now hiring for a Part-Time, Maintenance 1 / Janitor to work Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Valley Village Retirement Community (55+) provides housing for over 300 Residents.

A successful candidate must emphasize customer service; demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and integrity; exercise confidentiality in all performance areas; understand, apply, and comply with all State and Federal Fair Housing laws and company policies and procedures.

The specific duties include but are not limited to the following:

1. Cleaning of offices, lobby, lounge, common areas, restrooms, kitchen, & dining room on an established schedule. Remove garbage from residential buildings.

2. Cleaning of library, elevators, stairwells, game room, and corridors on an established schedule.

3. Set up for scheduled events.

4. Cleaning carpets, stripping and waxing floors.

5. Basic maintenance tasks (plumbing, replacing light bulbs, hanging drapes, etc.) as assigned.

6. Relief in other maintenance areas, including housekeeping and repairs as assigned.

7. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

1. Willingness and ability to work as a team member.

2. Ability to work well with senior citizens and co-workers.

3. Basic experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, and general maintenance.

4. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

5. Must be familiar with the safe use of maintenance tools.

6. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written.

7. Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, climb 5 flights of stairs, and stand/walk for extended periods of time with or without accommodations.

8. Must have 20/20 vision (corrective lenses or contacts permitted) and be able to distinguish colors.

9. Must have normal hearing (hearing devices permitted) and speech.

10. Ability to work independently to complete scheduled routine tasks quickly and efficiently without direct supervision.

11. Willingness to work extra hours as needed on an occasional basis to complete emergency repairs or for staffing occasional Valley Village social functions.
