With a 168-year history in the Hopkinsville community WSH is a State acute care, adult psychiatric facility, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. WSH provides in-patient psychiatric evaluation and treatment for adults from 34 counties of Western Kentucky who have severe mental illness. Every employee is part of our caring and competent team committed to excellent in behavioral healthcare for our patient and we have openings for Patient Aide I's to join our team.

This job requires mandatory COVID 19 vaccination or an approved exemption in accordance with CMS-3415-IFC from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This means if appointed to the position, the applicant must have completed the primary vaccination series for COVID-19, which means the administration of a single-dose vaccine or the administration of all required doses of a multi-dose vaccine upon commencement of employment. The vaccine received must be one of the FDA-approved or FDA-authorized vaccines. Proof of vaccination will be required. If a medical or religious exemption is sought, the candidate must submit paperwork to the employer prior to appointment for review and approval.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist with direct care of patients including feeding, maintaining personal hygiene, and ambulation.
• Measure and record vital signs.
• Learn to apply therapeutic communication techniques to assist with patient de-escalation.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients.
• Assist patient in disaster, fire, and emergency operations.
• Provide information and date necessary for developing Nursing Care Plans.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 9 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
